Diane Wenke has served as the Traditional Worship Coordinator at St. Luke since
the inception of the position in June 2006. Diane received her Bachelor of Music
degree as a Piano Major from Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio. She attended
the University of Washington in Seattle for one year to continue studies toward
a Master of Music Degree. Diane is a professional piano instructor.
Previously, she was a member of a two-piano team, and a pianist for musicals and
soloists at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA.
Diane has been a member at St. Luke since 1993 and served as the Choir Director
until September 2006. She is also a worship pianist and substitute worship
organist. Previously, Diane served as Choir Director at Our Savior’s Lutheran
Church in Spokane. WA. and at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney, WA.
Diane was born in Tacoma, WA as one of four sisters. She is married to Bill, has
three children, and four grandchildren. She enjoys golfing, bowling, Washington
State University basketball and football, and beating Bill at cribbage.
Together, they have traveled extensively and look forward to more traveling in
the future.
As a life-long Lutheran, Diane has seen much change in worship practices. She
appreciates the vitality and interest that such changes can bring to Lutheran
worship. She is humbled by the incredible responsibility and privilege it is to
plan each worship service. She prays for wisdom, flexibility, vision, and
integrity in her work, giving it always to the Glory of God…the true
Champion
of us all.
